Honda Vehicle Safety Technology

Cars today are full of nice-to-haves. You know, those extra touches that make a drive more exhilarating and comfortable, the details that make a car more than four wheels and bucket seats. These nice-to-haves are fun to have, but there’s one thing that’s always a must have and that’s safety. After all, driving is a privilege and it’s important the cars we drive are safe for everyone onboard and everyone on the road.

The folks at  Honda understand the importance of comprehensive vehicle safety and are committed to developing technologies that go beyond government regulations. For example, the Honda-exclusive body design known as ACE™ Body Structure, enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions by distributing crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle.

In a Honda you can drive confidently knowing your safety is Honda’s highest priority. Read on for more safety technologies brought to you by the folks at Honda.

Multiple Airbags
First, remember that wearing a seat belt is your primary mode of protection in any crash. That being said, every Honda is equipped with Advanced Front Airbags to help protect you in the event of a collision. Select models are equipped with SmartVent® front side airbags and side curtain airbags with rollover sensor.

Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Dynamic Guidelines
Specially placed cameras allow you to get a better view of what’s behind you with three different angles: normal, top-down, and wide.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
LDW can detect unindicated lane departures from detected lanes. Alerts will flash and sound to help bring your attention to correcting the lane drift.

Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
If your vehicle is detected as drifting too close to the side of the road while driving 45–90 mph without a turn signal activated, RDM alerts you with rapid vibrations on the steering wheel. If you continue to leave the roadway, it can also apply steering torque and braking to help keep your vehicle in the detected lane.

Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
Integrated with the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), FCW uses a small camera mounted at the top of the front windshield to detect the presence of vehicles in front of you. If the FCW system determines that you are at risk of a collision, audio and visual alerts are activated to warn you. If you fail to act, the CMBS applies brake pressure automatically.

Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™)
Utilizing a millimeter wave radar sensor, CMBS helps bring your Honda to a stop when the system determines there is an unavoidable collision with a vehicle detected in front of you. A warning sounds and, if necessary, brake pressure is applied automatically.
