2019 Honda Civic New Features & More

2019 Honda Civic Sedan LX

The perennial favorites, Honda Civic Sedan and Honda Civic Coupe, received a number of upgrades for 2019, which means this year’s model will likely retain the Civic’s enviable status as America’s retail best-selling passenger car1. The 2019 Honda Civic is complete with new interior and exterior design features, improved powertrain and chasis, advanced safety features, new technologies, and even a new trim. Let’s review a few notable features and upgrades to the 2019 Honda Civic, starting with that sporty new trim.

The Sport Trim

Perhaps the most newsworthy item: The 2019 Honda Civic includes a new Sport trim for both the sedan and coupe. The Civic Sport trim features unique styling — red gauges, leather wrapped steering wheel,  synthetic leather and cloth seat combo, textured aluminum sport pedals, fog lights with black gloss trim, black decked spoiler, chrome exhaust — upsized 18-inch wheels and tires, a responsive 2.0-liter engine paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or optional Continuously Variable automatic Transmission and an 8-speaker audio system.

The Civic is known for being fun to drive and with its exclusive new shock absorbers, rear lower control arms, and a stiffer front stabilizer bar, the Civic Sport trim exceeds its reputation.

Honda Sensing and then some

Honda’s advanced suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies known as Honda Sensing now comes standard across Civic trim levels. Honda Sensing includes: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) incorporating Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

Along with Honda Sensing, additional new safety features include new automatic high beams, electronic parking brake with an automatic Brake Hold feature and a 7-inch digital TFT instrument cluster.

Connected, comfortable, cue the music

Civic Sport models built off the LX trim, include a redesigned 7-inch Display Audio system with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, while Civic EX models include the redesigned 7-inch Display Audio system plus new dual zone automatic climate control, 8-way power adjustable drivers’ seat, power moonroof, push button start, heated front seats, and remote start. The Civic sedan EX-L trim includes leather-trimmed seats, plus an auto-dimming rear view mirror and Homelink®. The Touring trim builds upon the EX-L trim and includes 18-inch wheels, paddle shifters (with CVT) and sport pedals, as well as redesigned LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, side-mirror turn signals, heated rear seats (in the sedan model only), embedded navigation and an updated audio system.

Fuel Economy

With the 1.5-liter engine, the 2019 Honda Civic’s EPA fuel economy ratings are among the best in class, with top ratings of 32/42 city/highway mpg2 for EX and EX-L trims.
