The new Honda Passport gets a rugged redesign for the 2022 model year along with an all-new trim, the off-road-ready Passport TrailSport. The capable midsize SUV also gets some new tech and safety features along with other minor tweaks and updates. Prior to its arrival at dealerships, Honda debuted the Passport TrailSport Rugged Roads Project vehicle at the Overland Expo West in Arizona this past September. Featuring genuine Honda accessories, the Passport TrailSport Rugged Roads Project was custom designed by Honda R&D along with Jon Tuico. Learn more about the Passport TrailSport Rugged Roads Project.
Rugged New Look
The new 2022 Honda Passport still features unibody construction with independent suspension but now has more aggressive front end styling to match its off-road capability. A new grille joins a bolder front end with new front fenders and a squared-off nose with a power bulge on the new hood. A new skid garnish design helps the front bumper appear tougher, with broad side vents improving the Passport’s aerodynamics.
At the rear, the 2022 Honda Passport gets new twin exhaust outlets, tow hitch cover and new rear bumper. And new alloy wheel designs round out the athletic new look, with the top-tier Passport Elite getting 20-inch wheels.
For the first time, the HPD package is available on the new Honda Passport, including:
- Black fender flares
- HPD graphics
- Unique grille design
- Aggressive wheels
All-New Honda Passport TrailSport
The 2022 Passport debuts the first-ever TrailSport model, a new Halo for Honda light trucks. While its initial release is more of an appearance package, it signals a sign of things to come for Honda. The 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport features the all-new TrailSport logo, designed to express the beauty of nature and sense of exploration in a striking orange. The TrailSport logo is found on the Passport TrailSport’s grille and tailgate. Other exclusive design features include:
- Unique grille
- Silver painted skid garnish plates
- Orange contrast stitching
- Amber ambient lighting
- Gloss black badging
- TrailSport embroidered logos on front seats and floor mats
In addition to unique design elements, the new Passport TrailSport gets standard AWD, plus 10mm wider front and rear track widths for improved stability. Exclusive 18-inch tires with Pewter highlights and unique 245/60R18 tires with sidewall tread add to the TrailSport’s off-road capabilities.
The TrailSport trim will eventually broaden to include more off-road upgrades to the Passport’s performance capabilities, including off-road tuned suspension. The TrailSport will soon expand to other new Honda models, including the new 2022 Honda Pilot.
New for 2022, the Honda Passport now features a standard 8-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ across all trims. The 2022 Passport is available in five trims – Sport, EX-L, Touring, TrailSport, Elite – and offers available AWD, with standard AWD on the Passport TrailSport and Elite. A new Rear Seat Reminder is now standard across all trims. Other standard features include:
- LED headlights
- Smart Entry and Push-button start
- Honda Sensing® suite of safety features
- 280-hp 3.5-liter V-6
- Intelligent Traction Management with Snow mode
- Tri-zone automatic climate control
